In the Beginning…
Inspiration is a funny thing, and it tends to come when you least expect it!
Before the fire beneath azura, I had started, and scrapped, so many stories that I began to wonder if I was really cut out to be an author. It became disheartening after a while, to be quite honest. From a young age, I had always dreamed of writing stories that impacted people in the same way I had experienced with my favorite books. My hope was nearly at its end, And then one day in my early thirties, A world began to grow in my dreams…literally.
Over the course of a couple of months, vivid images of another world began to blur the lines of reality in my brain. I saw a metropolis built by the human race in a world that had lost its history to time. I saw A temple priest set out on a journey to save his home, with nothing more than faith and the visions he saw in the stars. I saw a young woman struggling to accept herself, dreaming of what lay beyond the borders of her small village. I saw a father, blackmailed into a political scheme that would test the boundaries of his moral compass. I saw a young man dealing with darkness in his heart, and his resolve to make a better life for himself and the girl he loved, no matter the cost. I saw a woman step into a leadership role she never intended to take, thus changing the course of her people forever. These characters became real. The world became a part of me. Until finally, I decided to let them tell their stories on the page.
Writing this book was such an incredible journey which would have been impossible to achieve without a strong support group. Thankfully, I’ve been lucky enough to have people encouraging me every step of the way, each of whom helped shape The fire Beneath Azura into what it is today.
